Hi rama91, welcome to the Forum.

Right now American Standard Strats are selling for around £762 new in the UK, which is about US$1259:

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/2 ... paign=base

The pound has hardened against the US dollar a quite a bit in the last couple of months - but Fenders in the shops today were imported when the rate was less good. That price has been better in the past and hopefully will improve again in the future.

Regarding Japanese Fenders: currency rates have meant that it has been almost impossible to buy these in the UK for many months. That position is just beginning to change again - but you will almost certainly find it easier to buy a guitar direct from Japan and import it straight into Argentina than to find one in the UK at the moment.

BE AWARE: before buying guitars in foreign countries always check with your own country's Customs department what they will charge you in import duties when you bring that instrument home. Nearly always it turns out it would have been cheaper to buy it at home instead of importing it. Take care.

Good luck - and I wish you a pleasant visit to my country.

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri for the answer.

I wrote that becuse I thought that there(England) were cheapier than Argentina. Check this web: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/ there, the american Fenders aren't tooooooooooooooooo expensive. I was thinking about buy a deluxe series that costs 455pound, but you are telling me that are arround 700pound! T_T, I never could pay that! so, please tellme if i am wrong.
I was looking for guitars in Ebay too and there the japanes around 90's weren't too expensive. So, i hope your answer. Thanks.

Hi again rama91: no, the price of £762 is for an American Standard Strat.

The Deluxe Strats (made in Mexico) are around £500 in the UK. For example:

http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6572

But remember, your government will add plenty of import tax on that at the airport when you get home. They want to encourage you to buy from a shop in Argentina...

Yes, 1990s Japanese Strats are available on Ebay in Britain for good prices. Again, you would pay tax on it when you get home if you buy it in the UK, though.

For all of us, it's nearly always better to shop at home, I'm afraid...

Cheers - C

Hey rama91: don't be disappointed. You are a lot nearer to Mexico than I am. I bet you can buy a Deluxe Strat much cheaper than coming to the UK and dragging it home. Buy in Argentina and come to Britain for a holiday instead. Lot of other nice stuff to buy here...

Where in the UK are you visiting? Lots of good things to see here, and for once we are supposed to be in for a long hot summer (though it's raining right this minute... ).

Have a nice time in England; and enjoy your new Strat, wherever you get it from.

Cheers - C

Thanks you a lot for the advices ^^! I'll be staying in London a month, but i'll visite the countries around and of course the Abbey Road :P in Liverpool.
I really want to change my squire strat standartT_T, that's why im so exciting. People told me that it's not worth to buy a new mex fender, are too expensive and the wood ins't good.

Hey do you know if Eric Clapton is playin in August? I really want to see him!

Clapton was just playing here last month. Now he's gone off to America with Steve Winwood. He starts playing there on Friday. His website doesn't show any dates for August, I'm afraid:

By the way, if you are thinking of Abbey Road, famous for the Beatles, Pink Floyd and others - well, that's right here in London:

That's me on the famous crossing, outside Abbey Road Studios.

Plenty of good Beatles things to see in Liverpool too, though.

Enjoy!

Haha - well that's easy to do.

Till then, check out this:

http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/

That's a webcam view from the front of Abbey Road Studios. Sometimes that street is empty - but sometimes it is full of tourists holding up the traffic while they pose for Beatles photos!

Come and join them...
