I'll let you in on a little secret on my LP....it's a fake. Cheap knockoff, feel is pretty decent but pickups are DIRT. I'm going to put my spare set of EMGs in it to see how I like that sound because let's face it EMGs can make a piece of driftwood sound like a set of EMGs ;)

Where did you get that Les Paul knock off?? I have always wanted a Les Paul but they are just WAY out of my price range!

Not a lot in truth. The neck shape is nice as are the tuners. The fretwork, bridge and pickups leave a bit to be desired in my opinion. I bought it as im a huge greeny fan. If you look the strings are off the tuners and capo'd on whilst i sort the frets and make a new nut for it. For £250 its ok certainly a lot better than the LTDjh600 (which is as dead as a doornail).
If gibson would make a accurate copy of the guitar i'd snap it up.

I do like the relicing on it too, particularly the neck and back of body wear.

Did yours have a very dull finish. I spent hours polishing that one up.

I was pretty pleased with mine. Especially as I didn't have 2 Million dollars with which to buy the original.. Cheap way in as a tribute guitar - I agree Gibson missed too many opportunities to produce a ltd edition run of such an iconic guitar.

The pickups on mine are pretty good - the original ones as specified by Trev Wilkinson on his pre-release prototype, as opposed to the more standard ones that appeared on all but the earliest production guitars (or so I'm told..) Was going to fit Bare Knuckle PG Blues on it, but in reality they don't sound much better.

I left it matte finished, but may yet polish it up a bit. What did you use if I might ask?

All in all, better than an Epiphone I always thought - even if the single cut away isn't quite properly shaped (in deference to a big fat Gibson lawsuit..)

I like the sharp point, it looks neater to my eye. Also i found the upper access slightly better than a LP's, no doubt due to the thinner neck and altered body shape around that area. I still cant get on with the looser strings, its going to have to go up to 11's or 12's.

All in all i'm happy'ish with it at its price point. If i wasnt i'd use it as an ornament as i do the esp. Instead of putting time into the frets and rounding the binding off.
I used lots of beeswax applied every other day over about a week on the rosewood. On the body i've given it 3 treatments a month apart. It just doesnt absorb the stuff and the board seems to suck it in. I may give it a light clear coat if i feel brave enough to try that stuff again. I may try and rewind the pickups if i can find out how many turns they have. I think they sound a bit thin on the bridge and about right on the neck when the pickups set high. The middle position has lost all its sweetness probably because of the weak bridge.

One day when its done and finished it will be a hell of a guitar.

Gibson did do a version of it, the gary moore model. It looks nothing like greenies guitar.

Note the pickups and lack of neck binding. No wonder it didnt sell.

Westbury.

Man those are utterly awesome guitars. A guy i used to know had one when i was 15. I've never played a guitar like it since. Light, sustains forever, thick les paul tones. Another friend had a yamaha sg2000 from the late 70's/early 80's. Even that thing didnt compare to the wesbury. You can still find em around the £150 mark sometimes. Thats a buy you cant beat.

Love the Westbury. Before I got it someone took out the Dimarzio PAF, moved the Super Distortion to the neck, and put in a Duncan Designed in the bridge. So now it is a little more of a one trick pony than it was. Still a great slab of wood, sustains, nice big frets. Gibson scale and gets the Les Paul surly growl. The bridge has now corroded to the point that the E and A strings are sitting on little peaks of pot metal with nothing on the sides of them  My first lefty though. I play normally left handed and mostly fingerstyle right handed.

It was the initial member of my $100 collection that now includes both of the MIM Squier Series and the MIK Squier. Yep, love the Westbury.
