Wah, O/D, and Distortion. I'm thinking of adding a boost too.

currently it's a Rangemaster-clone treble boost --> V-Twin tube preamp pedal --> Tremolo --> Reverb --> Amp.

My amplifier is a non master volume Class A tube-type thing, so I wanted to add some Brownface (tremolo)/Blackface (reverb) attributes. The V-Twin adds the grunt that I can't currently turn up loud enough to get naturally. I would love a good delay, and that would be it. I swear.

I guess we all start regressing as we get older, but I'd quite like another go at my very first setup when I started playing guitar in the mid '80s. I had Boss overdrive, chorus and (one of their first) digital delay pedals with a Marshall 50W combo of some description. Again, no master volume...it was too much power for me back then. I think I blew my grandparents' faces off when they came to my first gig with the opening chord of Jailhouse Rock. I've seen those Boss OD-1 pedals recently with ridiculous pricetags... ah well, good times, good times...

When it's used at all, which is not always, reverb and / or tremolo.

For low volume practice, I like a quality multi channel tube preamp for the gain and tone shaping, and sometimes a little reverb for depth. I also use a bit of compression before my preamp stage to smooth things out, make leads stand out and notes sustain better.

For louder playing with a drummer, just straight into a multi channel tube amp.

To me its more important that I have a great tone at practice and direct recording levels than when playing live, as there is so much noise anyway that subtle differences go unnoticed or get absorbed anyway. Plus I am not a gigging player anyway. It's nice that I have the opportunity to have a couple of great rigs and my main rig can do both really well

My main rig is a ADA mp2 preamp, to a mesa boogie 50/50 power amp with low power switch, to a Marshall 1960 vintage 30 4x12. I have had this rig since the mid 90's and I still can't find anything better to my ears

My other rig is my Digitech 2101 into my modified (bigger spring reverb tank and celestion tube 10 speaker) 1982 Peavey Backstage. This has kinda become my practice rig and strangely sounds better with my strat than my above rig...no true with my other guitars though. I also have stopped using the spring reverb in favor of the Digitech's digital reverb.

I can do all kinds of crazy stuff with this setup. The more I tweaked my Digitech pedals, the more I found that they really are good effect pedals. They're quiet and cut through a mix pretty easily. Voo Doo Labs Trem, Tech 21 Tri OD, modded crybaby, SD pickup booster. I've had good success with this setup.
