My '74 is getting a bit "mature" so I'm thinking it's time to let her rest in the case most of the time.

My Am Std Strat is HHH so I need to get another for the times when SSS is the only way to go.

Now I just have to decide on which one to buy. I know I want a maple fretboard on this one.

Hmmmm . . . .

time to start looking for deals, let the hunt begin :D

A Clapton or a Johnson strat would be nice for your collection. I would get one of those two if I had the money.

I'm definately looking at them and all suggestions are welcome. In all probability I will go used because the prices are better. It's abazing how many people buy stuff and then hardly use it!

I gotta suggest the American Deluxe Strat as well. I just purchased one and love everything about it. The S1 system really is a great addition. It gives you alot of nice sounds to work with. Keep us posted. Isn't it fun shopping for a new guitar? :D

MThorn,

Keep an eye on the Gear page forum. Musicians selling and trading with musicians. Reasonably priced and not bid up over value like some on Ebay.

I think a geetar is meant to played, but that opinion.

I would go for the Am Deluxe with ash body. Then I would swap out the pups, I dont like the noiseless.

Got a picture of them? I'd like to see the '74 and that HHH Strat!

I would say that you need an American Vintage '57 Reissue (or a similar Custom Shop Time Machine version if you wanna splurge).

Mthorn.I am glad to see you are going to go used.I had posted a thread a week ago about with the bad economy there afe a lot of guys selling there axes needing cash.Well I wanted a tele and went through 2,300 listings on ebay and cut it down to 5 I was interesred in.I wanted a cherry burst american deluxe.I lost the first auction a 2007 mint by $10 with 3 seconds to go it went for $995 I think .The next day I picked up a 2009 never played never sold from a small music store in San Fransisco with OHSC and candy for $1,070 so I saved $700 and could not be happier.I also let go a 62 hot rod strat that went for $1,300 brand new mint but it was that ugly green I just was not feeling and with the new price increase I could of turned around and sold it and made an easy $400 which I kicked myself in the as$ for later but I really only buy what I am going to keep.If I were you I would just punch in American stratocaster and systematicaly go through all the listings as you will deffinetly find a few really great buys at the moment. Some are using the price increase to make money on older axes while most guys with newer axes are giving the better deals kind of weird.I dont know how your schedule is but if you can catch an auction that ends in the early part of a weekday there is a lot less traffic if you get what I am saying.Well best of luck and let us know how you make out.

Yeah, we need pics. What is the story on that HHH? I know some here will think of you as a heretic, but I am already stamping it with a serious cool factor in my book...
