Some of you may be familiar (probably sick by now) with the woes I expressed on this forum, regarding the bridge on my MIA CS not returning to correct pitch when useing the trem.

Well, I've read a lot ot material since then - on this forum and others and have explored options ofr fixing the problem (although the resounding opinion here seems to be that it's just the guitar that needs to be set up correctly).

Anyway, one option that I keep stumbling upon is the Hipshot Tremestter. It looks like - when correctly installed and set up - it can really address tuning issues, plus cure the "flat note resulting from double stops" syndrome. Best of both worlds. The only negative against it seems to be the difficult installation and the altered feel of the tremolo...

It looks like Fender actually stock the Tremsetter as an official part and I believe Tremsetters were being fitted as standard on the Strat Plus at some point.
So I guess it must be something worth looking at...

What is the actual opinion of people who either have one or had one? Do you like it? Does it work? Is it reliable? Is it difficult to install? Would you recommend it?

I also looked at some other options like the Tremol-No, and the Goldo, but none of them inspired much confidence (despite the relatively painless installation).

Yes, tremsetters were standard on the Strat Plus Deluxe series back in the '90s...I have one on my '91 ultra.

If it hadn't come pre-installed, I'd be reluctant to butcher my guitar with one of those things. I wish I could give you more of an idea of their functionality, but I never set my bridge up to float...it didn't occur to me that the tremsetter might help with that second-note-in-the-double-stop flatness. Easier (in my opinion) to have the bridge sitting flat and eradicate the problem altogether.

There are others on the forum who give their tremolos a more thorough workout; they'll be of more use to you. The tremsetter has certainly behaved itself well over the years, but I wouldn't miss it if it weren't there (as far as I'm aware). They do look unappealing sitting there in the tremolo cavity, though.

I had one and didn't like it. A big bangy notch in the middle of the trem movement. I solved it by taking the guitar to a luthier and saying "please fix the tuning stability". He did some work and now it's fine, no tremsetter, just a floating trem.

I had them OEM in a few of my Strats back in the 90s. I took them and their claws out out as soon as I got the guitars home, replacing the whole system with the one traditional claw and the one more traditional spring. IMO, they are utterly useless and their mere presence in a guitar is an impediment to its functionality.

I was sold on the Tremol-No and bought two for my floyd guitars. I have never used the Tremsetter as it seemed a bit more invasive in installation.

The Tremol-No works as it should, if installed correctly, and I particularly like it when I have to downtune to drop D tuning, as you know anytime you have a floating trem and you change tunings it's a bit of a pain.

I haven't used the Tremol-No on my American Standard strat, as I don't feel like I need to as much as I do on my Floyd equipped guitars.

Although I have never personally used either the Tremsetter or the Tremol-No I have a lot of friends that have.
The reviews I received from them are the reason I have never tried either one.
