I've been wanting to have a friend paint a design over my standard American Stratocaster for a while now. My strat is arctic white so I've got it pretty good in that regard. However, how do I go about painting over a finished paint job? Is it possible to paint over this finished paint job or should I buy a new strat for this purpose?

Just sand the body with ''0000'' steelwool so your friend's paintjob
sticks to the surface of the body.
Then apply a natural laquer topcoat and polish that.
You can use aerosol cans or go to a specialiced guitar painter.
