So, I have this beautiful John Mayer strat, but there is no visible indication of where it was built, anyone know what facility they are built in?

Yep made in Cali

On the other note did you hear/see his blog for the new album "Battle Studies" he never even touched a Strat. He is into Gibsons and some other 8strings, etc.

All players go through phases of trying to get new sounds even Joe Bonamassa the last few times I saw pics of him they were with a Les Paul.I remeber when I got my first ax with humbuckers Ispent a lot of time with it but then most of us go back to #1 as it is like a third arm.Geez to tell the truth it has been a while since I had #1 out just to hold which is a modded 62 reissue tele with Dimarzios as I have had My Beck strat out the last 3 years.

Not all of them are FCS. I believe the CFM's were but they are limited to 100 or so.

the only two FCS Produced JM Strats are the CFM and CM. I consider myself an expert on this particular model, and have some interesting unknown information regarding "The Black One". I pride myself in trying to be the first guy out there to know the latest information.

I'm sorry about the rant, but I have to take it out of my chest :)

I'm really pissed off at Fender for making John Mayer's model in America, no less than in the Custom Shop (!!), along with i.e. Billy Corgan's model, while the Ritchie Blackmore Signature Strat is made in Mexico with worse materials and craftmanship, plus it comes with no guitar case.

IMO, two completely irrelevant and borderline talentless guitar players when compared to the genius of one of the most virtuous, influential, innovative, talented and unique musicians to ever have played a Strat can't have their instruments made *better* than Ritchie Blackmore's.

I'm saying all this after having to return my RB Strat due to poor sound and craftmanship. Compared to my MIA Malmsteen Strat, it felt like a $1200 Squier.

I don't know about this particular case, but some artists request that their models are Mexican made to be more affordable for the players. I don't think it's exclusively a Fender choice. It's generally a collaborative process.

Leet- Are you sure the CM were FCS? I have never seen documentation of that.
