I prefer rosewood because of the smoother, mellower tone that it gives off. Maple is snappy and brite and I don't really like the slick feel of a maple fretboard.

maple is alot snappier and your bends will be alot faster. for me its harder to control. it has nothing to do with which one is better it is simply a difference in feel and therefore sound. rosewood tends to be alot warmer as far as sound and playability but they are both great!!!

I prefer a maple fingerboard. It gives you a purer tone and feels smoother.

i prefer rosewood, it seems to almost absorb sweat while playing and i've had no problems with it... maple is good still though, just play both and see which you like the best

I prefer rosewood on any guitar, but there is only one guitar that should have maple in my opinion and that's a telecaster, a tele should be thin sounding anyway, at least to my taste. When I look at a telecaster I see twang, nothing else.

You should be able to cut a tree down with the bridge pickup on a tele.

I prefer a maple neck, but the rosewood necks I have are also pretty good.

I'm telling ya you'll love it! My AS has been slammed, kicked and pulled thru hell and back and is still sounding like 1994.

The Trinity = Maple, Rosewood, Ebony. They each have there pros and cons, you'll soon develop a preference for one or all of them.

Things to consider would be:

Feel / Comfort
Tone
Looks

Rosewood for the growl it gives in the neck-mid and the depth of the tone. And because I'm used to it.

A good Tele doesn't sound 'thin', it sounds sharp and full of bass even
on the bridge PU.
Jimi Hendrix used maple necks, no thin sounds there. David Gilmour
also used maple necks, Eric Johnson !
I agree with the maple neck on the Tele, it just looks right.
