Would it be possible to add a Mid-Boost like on the Clapton Strat to my MIM Standard with Vintage Noiseless pickups? If so, how? Do they (Fender) sell what's needed to make that mod? Or would it be something I had to piece together?

I put the battery inbetween 2 trem springs in the rear cavity though. I couldnt get it all in the control cavity.

You can add it to any guitar. The clapton, guy and powerhouse guitars that use it have noiseless pickups though. When you increase the power of the circuit you'll increase the noise too. You'll be ok with the bucker but them singlecoils will hiss like a snake in a room full of cats.

Did the PCB fit in the cavity of the MIM Strat without problems or did you have to chip off a corner of it like how the author of the article had to?

What PUPS did you end up using?

And more importantly....how does it sound?????

I did clip the corner off but it fits with the corner on too. I tried it unclipped first, it did fit but was tight.
I installed the boost after i fitted vintage noiseless and was unhappy with them.
After much messing around (adding resistors, changing pots, changing caps) i settled on the stock setup included in the kit. Its about the best i found but does require you work those pots. If you just want to set and forget then dont put this circuit in your guitar. If you will work the volume mid and tbx pots though you will get a plethoria of great tones from tele twang to sabbath grind. The controls seem to be very interactive. The volume affects the overall tone a good deal as ofcourse do the mid and tbx pots.

I'm tempted to try it with scn's or dimarzio noiseless pickups. I did try it with mini humbuckers and it was too muddy.

Have you thought about using an outboard Eq Pedal such as:

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Boss-GE7-Equalizer-Pedal?sku=151324

You wouldn't have to mod your guitar and it can be used with other guitars too.

Dugger its similar but there are differences. I tried using a danelectro 7db +/- graphic in conjuntion with a boss 10 band 15 db +/-. After a load of mucking about with sliders it got quite close to the sound. There was quite a good bit of noise from the pedals that needs sorting out. I was looking also at putting the boost in a pedal but thought the majortiy of the noise probably comes from the jack connections.

Interesting...this circuit with the Vintage Noiseless PUPS and you didn't like the sound. Isn't that the same setup in the Clapton models?

Niki: I remind you that the guitar I had built by the CS was built on a Clapton platform but I put SCN's in it as opposed to Vintage Noiseless. This because these pickups were newly introduced on the American Deluxe and Fender was boasting that they were the closest to vintage Fender tone in a noiseless pickup. Many people have written in these pages that they don't like them. I found that their tone was full and meaty and worked well with the Clapton circuit. Apparently so did the purchaser of the guitar who acquired it after I traded up for my Gilmour. It wasn't on the wall in my GC's Platinum Room but for a few days.
