i am new to fender but always wanted one. i just got a used mexican roland ready strat and was wondering if i paid a go price. the guitar is in near new shape and everything works on the guitar side not sure about the roland stuff. i paid $125 and got a hard shell case for it. I'm not sure what there are worth.

i do have a question about the pick guard. is it possible to take out the roland stuff and change the pick gaurd?

Welcome to the Forum!

The hardshell case alone is worth at least 1/2 of that $125.

Not sure about your other question, but I think it would be possible.

That's a great deal, congrats! Take your guitar to a guitar store and get their guitar tech to talk to you about what you can or cannot do to modify your guitar. I'm pretty sure that they could change your pickguard and take out the roland thing. (Personally I'd keep it in and try to find a roland guitar synth for it. That would be a cool thing to mess around with, and you could justify it since your guitar was so cheap. )

Metro Chicago agrees with Texas.

For the most part, the Roland GK-2A pickup is a free-standing unit. It feeds through a 15(?) pin cable into something like a Roland GK-33 synth. Sometimes you can find one dirt-butt cheap. Suggst you try one out at the local store and become more educated and understand more options.

A visit to Roland's site can't hurt, either.

You got a great deal. Welcome and enjoy.
