Mine was a Washburn Mercury II. It was sunburst with 24 frets. I traded it in to get my Parker P38 and I'm still looking for one just like it so I can buy it. I learned a lot on that guitar.

My actual first guitar was a Conn classical. First electric was a Jackson Dinky which I sold about 6 months ago (looking back on it I wish I hadnt).

An old plywood "Spanish" guitar that my father bought for 10 bucks around 1962. I still have it hanging on a wall. Fact is, if you could play that, you could play anything. :D

 A Kramer VT111S with the big yellow sunburst, great body with laminated Alder and Mahogany. It looks kinda like Jimmie Vaughan's guitar but with a black scratchplate.
As it only cost my about £60 second hand I'm doing a big overhaul on the cheap... I could've of done one of those £100 challenges but I had to go ahead and add little extra bits like new tuners and stuff...
it has a beautiful vintage look with the B/W/B 3-ply scratchplate, steel chrome Strat knobs and yellow sunburst

it looks great but I'm having problems as I have pointed out on another topic

My first guitar was an Ibanez RG40. Not a great guitar, but it was MY guitar. Color was Indigo Blue with a white plate and a rosewood neck. The axe never sounded great, but I did pay for a fret dress and setup which made the neck surprisingly playable for a $200 guitar. I ended up selling it cheap to a coworker for his son to get started. I don't regret it, but I still miss that P.O.S.

My next was an Epiphone / Gibson Les Paul. White with gold hardware (yes, the Wedding Singer guitar). Never did like the neck and couldn't find the sound I wanted with my Marshall VS100. I have since had a couple of acoustics, and my latest is an LTD MH250. Black with smoked nickel hardware (if I ever met Floyd Rose I might just punch him in the face) and a rosewood board. I am currently shopping for my first Strat. I will address that in a separate post to introduce myself.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all.

Righty.
I was so upset. But mom, honestly and logically, told me that there were no lefty pianos so, why would she even think a lefty guitar existing?
OK, fair enough. So, for a year I tried to play righty. It just felt wrong. I couldn't do it.
So I sold the guitar to a righty friend and asked Mom for a LEFTY guitar for my 18th birthday.
She went back to Manny's (RIP) and bought me a LEFTY Guild accoustic guitar. Which I still have.

So, depending on your definition, one of those guitars was my first.

Love,
Todd

I had a somewhat similar experience. First ever guitar was a Hondo imitation Les Paul. I went to the local music store intending to buy a used lefty, but the shop owner convinced me to buy a righty instead, making all the usual arguments for doing so (the left hand does all the work on the fretboard, you don't see any left handed violins, etc...). It seemed like sound logic at the time so I gave it a go. I struggled on that guitar for about three years before almost giving up on playing entirely. I then decided to have the nut flipped around and restrung it for a lefty. It instantly felt more comfortable and easier to play (despite the awkwardness of playing on an upside down Les Paul!). Within a couple months I was playing as well left-handed as I had ever played righty. I later purchased a couple of proper left-handed guitars: a Yamaha electric-acoustic and my MIM Strat, both of which I still own.

My first guitar was a Squier Affinity Strat. I changed out the pickups and I still use it, it's a really nice guitar for what I paid for it. :D

Mine is in my signature, and I still have it. But technically I had a Harmony Acoustic that my uncle gave me first.

My first axe is a 2004 Squier Affinity Start came in a "Strat Pak". I later upgraded the bridge pickup to a Lace Sensor Red and switched the wiring to the "Ultra Strat Mod" and later sold it to a close friend to buy a bass.

A Avon Rose Morris les paul copy with single coils inside humbucker housings and strung with 13's. Hell of a guitar that quickly developed a neck like robin hoods bow.

aside from a 'family owned' unplayable acoustic when i was really little, my first guitar was the Ibanez Roadstar II that I did the refinish post on.

My first guitar was a Silvertone wannabe strat. its a plywood body with tons of glue and a thick as hell poly finish. Its nothing compared to my AVRI strat but its an ok guitar, i have definetly seen worse.
