'Have an MIJ '96 Jazzmaster which got American Vintage pups installed. It's now as hot as any American JM in every way. Construction and finish are outstanding.

That said, in this experience, while generally very nice, MIM Strats tend to personally feel a full letter grade below the American Standard.

Well I have 3 mij teles that I bought in the 80s that I chose over American models at the time and still have all 3.As far as MIM I do not own one but have been hearing nothing but great things about them on hear and other places and by people who have assorted axes.So if your looking to pickup something just go with what sounds and feels right to you and dont worry about where it is made.
