I love the color of these guitars. However, I think I would have liked it better had they used a single thick peice of Ash rather than edge joined three peices together. At least book-matched two peices together rather than three. Are they doing this for better stability in the wood perhaps? Somehow I doubt it.

For the right price, the Custom Shop would likely do that for you. 8) At dime store rates, you get what you pay for.

I've seen some matched grain patterns which were fab. 8)

I dunno 3 piece as opposed to 2 piece should have more stability to my mind. No proof of that just that the neck pocket and bridge section would all be situated on one bit of timber.

As i said theres no proof of my supposition, i've never seen either go bad.

Ditto x10 as I have observed. Ceri's is HSS.

Shucks, well I can take a hint. If we're posting pics, then -

2005 American Series Strat. Definitely a two piece body, by the way. Not what I went into the shop for at all, but it just called my name...

Well at least we can see what wood they did use in our guitars... if we had heavy paint covering it; they could build the body out of anything.

from what I can see close up on mine, it looks like its a 2-piece body.

Yeah, funny story about the hidden wood under paint (I know it isnt strat related but just keeping with that topic) my dad had an old early 60s sears silvertone and lent it to a friend who had it for years, swapped the pickups with a couple of dead ones and painted it white with house paint busted teh pickguard up taking it apart and returned it totally trashed. anyways in an attempt to restore it back (were still looking for the original covered single coils) my father went through the original black paint to find it was made of Birdseye maple, so he just stripped the rest of the paint off and finished it with Tung oil, looks great now back to strats sorry to get off topic

Hi Darcfitz: get outta here - how amazing! Love to take a look at that, if you care to post pictures.

I wonder if the black paint was original? I know people sometimes thought differently about timbers decades ago, but it'd be very odd to cover up a nice birdseye, whether done by the maker or later on...

Anyhow, great find. Well done, your dad.

Cheers - C

sure no problem, if they dont take them down for not being strats. the bridge pickup is original but doesnt work where the neck pickup is from a different model of silvertone. the Pickguard was traced from what was left of the original and cut out of a piece of mohogany, and the original knobs were lost. by the same guy that decided it would look good painted white in house paint and that filing the notch in the head stock would be enough to make people think it was a gibson lol. the moral of the story dont lend your equipment out.

Hi again, Darcfitz. Don't worry: we love looking at pictures of all guitars here.

What an amazing piece of timber to find hiding under the paint. You gotta wonder what was happening in the head of anyone who'd cover that up, whether in the factory or later. Bizarro!

Anyway: what a find, and what a nice unique guitar to own. In a roundabout way, thank you to the guy with the white house paint for helping it get uncovered! Excellent.

Cheers - C
