Sorry folks I usually do not rant like I did and I appologize to All_thumbs09 and Ryan3905. I just have a thing about bogus guitars, having been duped when I was a teenager (and yes it was supposed to be a Fender Stratocaster). It's just my opinion not to make something out to be anything other than what it is.

I'll stop watching this thread for now...Thank you.

Thanks for all the input guys, I hadn't even considered the legal aspect of asking about this on a fender sponsored forum. But i do appreciate all the input and conversation about it. Im still not sure which way I will go with the decal, finding one or just admiring the beauty of the current headstock, but I will try to come back and post some pictures when Im done assembling everything. And as a note to previous comments, the entire neck is not a "fender" neck, but a liscensed replacement neck.

Here are the specs of the guitar:

Natural Ash Fender body with "thin-skin" treatment, beautifully figured birdseye maple neck/fretboard/headstock with abalone dot markers and walnut skunk stripe, lace sensor hot gold series pickups(aged white which actually matches the exact tone of the wood so they will blend in), custom gold tuners with amber tuning heads, custom birdseye maple pickguard (real wood, not veneer), every piece of hardware/metal is gold, there is no plastic, even the knobs and switch are gold, and every piece of wood has a natural clear finish.

Im hoping to complete this in less than two months and I will post some pictures when I do.

Mate the way that guitar is going to look you should consider putting your own name on it.

That guitar is gonna be a one of a kind beauty. Simply amazing. Maybe you could talk to a graphic designer and get a logo that is representative of you put on it. I think that would be better than a fender logo anyway considering all the blood sweat and tears you're putting into this guitar. And please promise to post pics here when you're done with it. I would love to see this guitar completed.

No need for apologies here friend. I agree with you (and obviously so does Fender) in that logo stickers should be issued sparingly if at all.

I would cut out the letters F E N D E R from the newspaper, and put it on the headstock, and nitro over it. It will look like some psycho ransom note!! Now THAT would be unique. Just a stupid idea.
PS; I have a Fender licensed Allparts neck that I love, and it has no logo whatsoever on it. It looks kinda cool that way, with just the blank wood showing. It is a high quality piece, with equal or better fretwork and finish than any MIM neck, and most MIA necks. It was not cheap, as I could have gotten an MIM neck instead for less. I took a gamble, paid big bucks, but got a fine neck for my money.
This is what I have so far for my build.
1980s Original Floyd Rose (Made in Germany) I've had it since 1986
Fender Vintage noisless pickups w/ Fender 5 way and 500k pots
Allparts SRF neck
Schaller locking tuners
Tusq nut
I am looking for the right body for this build. The quest continues...
Oh yeah, where can I get a Gibson decal.......

As an aside here. I am thinking this winter( i know far away but...) of doing a scratch build strat. I mean everthing from cutting the body to making the neck and fretboard. if i actually do it, I plan on making my own decal with my computer and using my name, but in a font very similar to the one used on fenders.

'Zactly. And I'm here to tell Ryan3985 that it's very easy to do this. Google "waterslide paper" or "decal paper" and you will find products to use with either an inkjet or laser printer. Run up your own decal design in Photoshop. And the ease of printing out dozens of them will encourage you to build some more guitars to go underneath!

(Don't worry, people. There's more to a Fender decal than merely buying waterslide paper. Nobody's going to be making fake Fenders this way...)

Also, bear in mind, round here a nude headstock often attracts respect. It means you might have sourced a particularly fine neck from someone like Warmoth. Anyone who disses your guitar because it doesn't say Fender on the top can safely be laughed off.

Good luck - C

An old guitar teacher of mine put together a guitar out of Tom Anderson parts (if I remember correctly)...he put a little bas relief Chinese dragon on the headstock for luck. Looked like finely worked pewter, and complemented the guitar nicely. Have you got an ancestral coat-of-arms? That would be pretty fancy.

I agree with the others. I would design my own decal or find a graphics art student who might help you for a reasonable charge. I wouldn't make it look at all like Fenders. The chances of getting a decal from Fender are really slim.

I am okay with it, personally ... but there should never be a serial number on the guitar.

On the neckplate (which is a three hole) there are my initials engraved in the spot where serial numbers normally go.

And I have also decided I think I will go with your guys' great idea of having an art student design a decal for me. I cant wait to finish this project!
