So I have been collecting parts and pieces (all fender) that are top of the line and exactly what I want on this dream guitar I am putting together, however there is one last bit that I cannot seem to find. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the "fender stratocastor" headstock decal? I have been searching everywhere, but to no avail. I am really hoping that with every piece of this guitar being a fender liscensed piece that I can get the decal to finish it off. Any ideas or help?

p.s. first post. :D

Ryan, welcome!

You've brought up an EXTREMELY touchy subject here, one that has been discussed in great lengths already. Please do a search.

I will never sell this guitar, it is for me and myself only. But I would like it to be complete, headstock decal included. I know there are purists out there who might disagree with the idea of a frankenstein, however if the guitar is just for personal use and I dont claim its a strat that I bought from the custom shop I dont see any problem with finishing a project.

So if anyone has any info on how I could possibly find a decal (preferably a 70's style) I would be so thankful for the help!

No one on this site will point you toward a source for a fraudulent sticker.

it has nothing to do with you, or your intentions ( I am going to assume you have no ill intentions,) but those stickers are often used for fraudulent purposes, and is hardly appropriate for a Fender sponsored forum.

1. Welcome to the Forum
2. There is nothing wrong with "Frankensteins".
3. If you have all Fender parts and pieces, what do you need a decal for? Shoudn't it already be on the neck?

It's fine to put a guitar together. You can even use pieces that are not Fender. But usually when someone is looking for a Fender decal, they are looking to do something they are not supposed to.

Hello Ryan3895,

If it were I, and I got all those
parts together it would be my
name on the headstock.
" Billocaster ? "

Cheers.

I understand where he is going with it. He wants it to be as authentic as possible. I would assume the fender headstock is good enough. Look at esp they ripped the telecaster and the only thing that makes it different is the cut way on the headstock, you know right away its not a fender but a esp

im building a parts caster and i have a reverse fender headstock, i didnt want a decal on it as i felt it would ruin my design.

Why not get a fine calligraphy pen or marker and write it yourself. It'll give it that personal touch that should be given to a home-built guitar.

I agree! There are two different parts-n-pieces guitars that I am working on. The sum of the parts are about 75% Fender but since the necks are not, no Fender logo. I like to think that the superb (in my estimation) combination of switches, pickups, bridges and especially neck profile are better for me than what Fender can offer on a mass produced guitar.

Now I suspect it's fair to say that Fender may disagree with me on my high flying opinion of my own work!

Reminds me of a Mustang 2 I saw a number of years ago. It had some slight modifications to the rear end and it had a Mercedes star Logo centered on the trunk lid....did make me take a second look, but the addition of the logo didn't make it a Mercedes.

Fender liscensed parts doesnt always mean Fender® parts

But when you type "all fender" it sounds reads like all Fender parts, not Fender licensed parts. Then the decal might have made more sense to me. And I would never put a Fender Stratocaster decals on a Frankenstein that has a neck that was not an Actual Fender neck, even if it was an authorized replacement. Again goes back to the question, is it a real Fender guitar if the body or neck has been replaced by anything other than a true Fender part made by the Fender company? My answer is no; however, it is a Stratocaster Frankenstein built with some really good parts.

Dont bother with the decal mate. If that neck was meant to have a fender decal it would of been on it when you bought it. It wasnt made by fender, it hasnt been shaped or fretted by fender.

Do a search on ebay for a Stratocaster waterslide decal. There are a lot of guys out there making pretty good ones and most make one for every generation of Strat.

Fender "Licensed" is NOT Fender made. That's why it's licensed out to another company.

Your guitar may be even better than a Fender made guitar, but was still not made by Fender.

"Licensed" makers still have to brand their name on the product, and they are proud of what they produce.

Can you do the same?
