Its odd that others have not droped there price but they will meet that from AM. GC seems to not be restocking them in the stores now days either but they still have them for order on the net. The local store here has to order them in if anyone wants one. I was told that this morning.

the only one has drop is the flat black.
the 3 tone sunburst is still $900 and so is
the red wine and honey bloned. the sale is only
for two weeks and the flat black will be back at $900

I've read they made some revisions to the HW1 since they were introduced. Any idea what to look for as far as differences based on the production year? I saw a couple HW1's, including an HSS black one that was VERY attractively priced but might not be a 2008 or 2009 model even though its new... not that I need another guitar since I've already got a MIJ Strat and another two Strats on layaway ( :) ).

But, if the HW1 is still there at that price when I pick up one of the Strats on layaway... well....

I think the changes happened in the 06' models. New specs are thin nitro finish, steel bridge, hotter pickups, jumbo frets. I think those are the main changes.

HWY1 have nice necks. Very thin lacquer. Feels like bare wood.

Musician's Friend has the "hero" deal going with an additional 15% off, dropping it a good bit more.

I just did it, making the jump from an old MIM Squier Series to the HWY1. Pretty jazzed. I'm a lefty so I feel like I'm getting a deal anytime I can even find a guitar, especially at the same price as the people who play bassackwards.

Only six hours left on the deal at the time of my post if you want the hero promotion.

Oh yeah, and pretty long time lurker, first time poster. Lurked for a long time back when the forums had operating hours before I even registered and then never got around to posting... so hi!

Hello FrostyMug,

Firstly welcom to this forum.

Nice work scoring that extra 15%,
that puts the price under $600, very nice indeed.

Treat us to some pics when you get it.

Cheers.

I think these guitars sold at this current price is a steal regardless. Love the unique features of these. I really think Fender hit the ballpark with this model and I really do find that these are Fender's underrated gems.

dont get used to it there going back up
$900 + and i also feel the highway one
is the best production strat made the highway one
dont need all these bells and whistles like strats of today.
they didnt have them back in the 50's/60's/70's/80's/90's
so the y realy dont them now. thats why i say and many others say
the highway one sss is a real strat.

ZZsounds is having the big sale also...they are listing all their Highway Ones
at 699.00. Strats, Teles and basses...seem to have a fairly big stock right now.

They also have all standards at $499, deluxes at $699, American standards at $1199 and $1249, classic players jags and jazzmasters at $899.

It is a nice deal for 600.00 for sure!! My question is why you think improvements make the modern strats not real strats though. We all know you love you HWY One's and they are nice guitars but there nothing like strats of the 50' 60's 70's other then the head stock and body contour. The neck is 9.5 radius, modern C shape, jumbo frets, completely different pickups (Hot Wound)
Tone circut is modern and completely different from old, new style tuners. It has its own bells and whistles just not as many as some others. Now the Classic series and the American Vintage are the guitars as you would say are like the ones from the 50's 60's 70's

I don't mean to start no fuss alwaysstrat/strat2004 but I think you would be better just saying its a great guitar for what it is. Not that its a great guitar because its like the 50's 60's ect. ect. cus its not like them.

All's cool though I will say if someone can get one for 600. to 699. it is a heck of a deal when you think they are trying to get 549. for MIM Standards.
