Okay there is another way. If you want your trem arm to stay put, without the little spring in there for tension, get a little surgical tubing and stuff it into the trem arm hole. It smashes into the threads quickly and provides enough tension on the arm that the little spring won't. I did that do my Strat VG and the trem arm stays put. I never let it bottom out. If I get it to bottom out, I unwind it 1 or 2 turns. That way I know it's in there enough, and that it is secure. This way provides enough tension that the arm doesn't move very freely, it doesn't slam against the input cable and stays put where I leave it.

The American strats come with a spring for tension on the arm. The MIMs do not. If you have a spring......then the arm will stay where you want. If you have an MIM it won't. I have both. With the MIM.......I just let it hang lose........then grab it, and use it at any level of height I want.

Is it that little hole on the neck plate? If it is, what tool do I need to adjust it?

I used the beat the crap out of it method. It worked pretty well. :)

I just kept pushing it, then I would put some 3 in 1 on it and repeat.

NOT the little hole in the neck plate!!!! That is for the micro adjustment of the neck. DON'T TOUCH IT! The hole for the trem arm spring is on the bridge. That is the mechanism that attaches the strings to the guitar and still lets it float.
