Hi Guys and Gals,

Just brought home my new 2008 American Deluxe Strat. Got it on lay away just before the price increase. Chrome Silver with maple neck. Took some time for me to really fall for the color scheme but I'm loving it now. I really like the contrast the maple fretboard provides. Plays like a dream. Loveliest neck I've ever had my hand around. I'm still getting used to the S1 switch. I'm not so sure how much I'll actually use it but its a pretty cool feature.

Here's some pics:

The other Strat in some of the pics is my '98 Amer. Std. The amp is a Line 6 Vetta that was given to me by a friend of my mothers. Interesting amp.

What do you think?

Them deluxe's are the bomb. The s1 sounds are very usable if your not expecting them to give fullblown bucker sounds. They do a good approximation of a low powered jazz humbucker. You need to play with the tone controls too. When you get used to it the system is great. I think its one of the best additions to the strat ever.

Love that Vetta combo too, very generous person your mums friend

Nick,

One thing I wish the S1 did do is provide all three pups in a series. You can get all three but the Neck and Bridge is in parallel with the Mid in series to those. Maybe there is a technical issue that prevents all three being used in a series?

Like looking axe! I like the silver color and the pickguard gives it a really sharp look.

Great looking guitar DeadAHead. You will enjoy the S-1 as you get to fooling around with it.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I just got done removing the protective plastic. Now I know why its there and why its so durable but jeez that stuff is a pain to get off without taking apart the whole dang guitar. :?

You have the same exact guitar that I have, except I have the rosewood neck. I love it.

Deadahead you could go with this mod.

http://www.fralinpickups.com/images/blendschem2.jpg

I'd keep the bottom pot as a master tone though because of the no load business. You'd no doubt need to be a bit clever to figure how the megaswitch translates to and from regular 5 way.
A bit above my level on a deluxe i'm afraid.
