I think it really just comes down to - everyone has a tendency to love their own particular axe. You know, you have a certain "closeness" just by osmosis. The mere proximity and touching it by playing helps to form more of a bond than most "tools" (if you will.) A meatcutters bandsaw is not something I would like to hold close to me, for instance.

So when somebody says, "Well gee, THIS guitar is actually BETTER than that useless pile of rubbish YOU call your guitar" then we (I,you, me, we) seem to take it as a personal slight and react accordingly. All it means is that we love our guitars. No biggie. It's still how ya play it!

here is one you don't hear much;
I am torn between two guitars that I really like, and would like to know which one I should get.
The first one is a 2008 Custom Shop Strat with an awesome birdseye maple neck and ash body. One of a kind finish in Torino Red(yes Starsky and Hutch Torino Red), gold hardware, abalone inlays, bone nut, and it comes with a lifetime supply of Corona beer.
The other is a 2000 Squire Affinity Strat that is beat to crap. It has a really bad neck bow, only one pickup works, and it kinda smells like cat piss. It is a really rare black finish with a white guard thingy, and one knob is missing. Where one knob should be is a hole. The one knob that is there just spins around and around, and doesn't really do anything.
I am really not sure which one to get. They both sound awesome, and play wicked awesome. Which should I get?????????
