I prefer the soft V of my Deluxe V-Neck. Had a MIM with a Modern C neck and never really felt comfortable with it. The V-Neck seems to fit my hand the best.

I've never really been able to make up my mind about that. Different guitars and different neck shapes, set ups, etc. cause me to play differently so I've found it to be pretty hard to do any actual testing. I can say that I have never had a Strat neck in my hand didn't feel great!

Having never played a V-neck I would have to say I don't know. 8)

That's exactly why I'm curious. My next purchase will be a deluxe strat, probably by the end of June. I already love the "C" neck on my deluxe tele, however it's the honey blonde strat w/ a "V" neck that I find looks best for the strats.

Either way I'll try both out, and we'll see which one it turns out I like more. I may just have to settle for a different colour since I do like "C" necks.

Tornado try a 57hotrod Vneck. Its quite an experience. Its a V but the tip is very rounded so it sits in the palm a bit like a C at the center, the shoulders onto the fretboard are pure V feeling though.

I like both. My general rule is nothing too shallow or my hand starts to hurt. The deluxe V's and C's are both very nice.

I'll most certainly do that nikinija! Do you know if the DiMarzio pickup is nice?

Yeah i love it. It is a compromise though. You get a great bucker sound on position 1. Position 2 is nice but slightly lacking. Its a very usable tone i find it responds a lot to the volume control. Whilst on 2 back the volume off to 6-7 and the treble becomes clearer, as you go up it fills out the bass more. I would prefer that the other way round, but you cant have everything.
The hotrods a great guitar and gives some great 70's type blues rock sounds. Just not that great for twangy bridge pickup country type stuff.

+1

I have a soft V, a large C and a modern C. I think I prefer the large C that is on my 62HR.

Just for the record: I have an American Standard and a YJM, both of which have a 'c' neck according to the specs. I love both, but I have noticed the width at the nut seems slightly smaller on the YJM, and although the neck IS a 'c', it's ever so slightly more 'v'-like than the Standard.
