So I can save a trip for copper shielding, does anyone know if my 62 AV Hot Rod is already shielded with a plate like they used in 62? Thanks

Yes, it is. If you look very carefully you will see that the pickguard sits a little bit off of the body- this is because of the shield.

That's good - I guess. Here's why I ask - I'm getting a faint crackle/static when I touch the pickguard in the area of whichever pickup is on, while I'm playing. More shielding or learn to live with it?

Hello Frankie5fingers,

Try a Bounce dryer sheet often reccommended
by forum #1 poster Chet Feathers------
it works pretty well for most.

I got a '62 hotrod and it's buzzy at my home but
most every where else it's quiet.

Too much shielding will affect tone, so my vote
is to shield no more, but you can.

Cheers.

Hello Frankie5fingers,

I put it under the pickguard.
Trim to size, loosen screws,
slip it under, tighten screws.
Have fun.

Cheers.

I had not heard of this before- could you report on your findings? I am very interested in trying it myself!

Makes the guitar smell fresh.

Wonder if someone posted it here http://www.bouncesheets.com/en_US/cleveruses/index.jsp
