hello to all-
I just purchased a used USA strat, serial # E48xxxx. The seller claims that she bought this new in 1994 but the serial # would indicate a 1984 Strat. I checked the neck and the date is stamped JUN 22 but of course the ink for the year is smudged and unreadable. Any thoughts? I can send pictures if you want.

Yeah, you need to post a bunch of photos.

One thing to tell though, is in the 90's they used that swimming pool, universal route under the pickguard. If it has that you can put it in that range, but if it has separate little routes for each pickup it is older, or newer.

It could be a usa made for export instrument. They had funny serial no's.

Pictures are always a pleasure to view and would help identify the guitar. Post as many as you can, even pose with the instrument at different locations.
We like looking at strats on this site.

I didn't Lose my mind, I traded it for this guitar.

E4 serial numbers were used on guitars as late as 1988.
So, sure, it could have first been purchased in 1994.

Check for other date codes if you want to be sure of the year it was made.
