It's come the time to change strings (for my first time ever, wish me luck), but it is my understanding that changing to a different gauge will involve changing the Tremelo system a bit, so I've decided to stick with the gauge that it came with, the problem is, I can't remember what they are. They are the standard Fender Bullets that came on the guitar when I bought it.

I'm pretty sure that all MIM Standard Strats come with 9-42's.

Std MIA is 9-42, some reissues and CS come with 10-48 i think. Even if you change the gauge you can tweak the guitar, it is fun trust me (just do not force atruss rod). You can find a detailed instructions on this website and you tube.

Happy playin... (remember real fun starts when the amp is dialed past 9)

+1 on the 9-42's, but try to get the right ones. I'm 99% certain Fender ships with nickel plated Super Bullets these days. Part number 3250L. The nickel wound Original Bullets (3150L) seem to be a little higher tension string, and the Stainless Bullets (3350L) are a little lower tension string if memory serves. You may find that switching to either of those will have you tweaking a bit to get things back to "normal". There may even be differences switching from bullet ends to ball ends. And of course different brands of strings can vary quite a bit, even if they're identical in diameter across the board (09-11-16-24-32-42) which some will not be.
