This is a separate question from my "switch" post.

Is it ok to wire the black wire to the output jack on top of the middle tone pot?

Should I re-wire, solder it to the volume pot with the claw and bridge block? Does it matter?

I have no idea why the GC tech did it this way...WTF;P

Thanks everyone

If all of your pots are connected to one another then it is fine. Once you've heard a guitar that is not grounded properly you will never forget it so unless it's misbehaving I wouldn't worry about it.

It looks like he may have cut the wire too short to make it to the volume pot. All the pots are connected thought.

Thanks a lot for the post:)

To answer all your questions:

"Is it ok to wire the black wire to the output jack on top of the middle tone pot?" Yes.

"Should I re-wire, solder it to the volume pot with the claw and bridge block?" If it is soldered properly, no, unless it intrinsically bothers you.

"Does it matter?" No.

"I have no idea why the GC tech did it this way...WTF;P"

I'll offer five of the most 'popular' reasons. Pick any one or any combination or all five:

1. He cut the wire too short in some sort of initial frenzy to get the pickguard and it's components quickly and completely separated from the guitar.

2. He couldn't get sufficient heat from his iron, gun or whatever he was using to solder it back to where it was because the original solder has a higher melting temperature than the iron and/or solder he used.

3. He did not possess the dexterity for (re)soldering the factory length lead and this was the fastest way to extend it to a manageable length.

4. It was a quick fix for a wire he outright forgot where he didn't have to confront and consider the other wires from the original place it was soldered to.

5. Outright lack of continuity; just a sloppy, amateurish job.

Naturally, this is merely my opinion, YMMV.

In the last two days, and the research I have done, I am smarter, and would do a better job.
