I'm looking at a new Am Std HSS - I will play many in my search - the question is SSS vs. HSS, specifically the Tex Mex singles on the HSS. Generally, how do the Tex Mex sound compared to the alnico Vs?

I must admit I am favoring SSS, but the HSS looks interesting, I don't use position 1 much, but I do visit position 2.

I play both clean and dirty, and I need to think if I really want a HSS, but I am interested in thoughts about the Tex Mex pups

I think the Tex Mex compare quite favorably, in my opinion. I am an unabashed Tex Mex fan. However, the Std SSS comes with nice stock pups, though. Also, just FYI in that the Tex Mex also utilize Alnico-5 magnets.
