what kind of music do you play? i play surf, and the flatwounds are perfect for that. they are definetely lower tension than chromes or GHS flatwounds. maybe you should try to bebop series if flatwound isnt your thing. but yes, having a round core really makes them sing. of course, i like my strings dull and thuddy, bright strings don't really sound good through a reverb unit.

well i play what i call "north florida swamp blues" :P

well im thinking that i want a real deep dead thuddy sound.. i dont like real bright strings because i klank and slam enough. i was thinking jazz strings would be a real cool contrast with my style. i would like strings with real tight tention though. i guess boomers where a bad choice but i never really cared about it before and they had thicker gauges and where cheap... now im getting curious.

then i would definetely go with TI jazz swing flats. they are one of the only flatwounds wound with nickel instead of stainless steel, which will definetely give you more of a thud. if it's high tension your going for, you may want to try 13's.
