It'll either get worse or stay the same, only time will tell.

The simple fix is to sand it and re-coat it, but if the rosewood strip is not set right, or if it keeps expanding and contracting (if that's the problem) then...it needs to be removed and replaced (no sense grappling with a finicky piece of wood). The more I look at it, ...was it hit or dropped?

Anyways, I'd called the seller and ask what the dealio is with that!

There's a great luthier out here on Southern California! Here's the link: http://www.ericsguitarshop.com/

He does the whole dealy on guitars; strip and paints, electronics, setups. It may be worth it to ship it to him if it don't cost a gazillion dollars to ship it.

...what do you do besides play guitar in a...fairly remote part of Austrailia??? Sounds great. Crocodile Dundee???

Austrailian chicks are hot!

Leave it alone! If you ever need to adjust the truss rod you may then see it get worst quickly

I'm starting to think the neck being beyond straight (slightly convex)
may have been part of the problem I slowly rewound the truss rod to give the guitar some slight relief and set it up so its playing really well now. The action is set to 1.6 mm on the high e and 2.0mm on the low e, whick I think is fairly average?
Anyway, I will keep an eye on it and if it gets worse we might have to pack up the car and head into the big smoke!

What do I do besides play guitar you ask? Well, I work in road construction and teach guitar one night a week, I have also gone back to lessons with a great Jazz guitarist in the hope of branching out musically.

I also do a bit of fishing and follow a sport called rugby league which is similar to american football but we have no brains so we don't bother with helmets and padding etc!

If you haven't seen or heard about this sport check it out on you tube. I think you'll like it. Its like a cross between Gridiron and Ultimate fighting!

Everyone likes rugby league.

Good call on the neck twist CV. Its entirrely possible given the extreme heat some parts of oz can be prone to.

Scotti.
Have you checked the neck straightness by pressing the high E string at the 1st and 15 th fret and checking for a gap between the string and fret at the 7th/8th fret? Its better than just sighting down or up the neck. I used to do that until i learnt this method. Theres just too much stuff in the way to throw your eye off.

Best of luck mate.

Hey!

Thanks for sharing.

My dad was a heavy duty mechanic for a road construction company! He worked on those huge machines, nuts bigger than the girth of a tree -- big tools, had a blast with those when I was a kid!

Other than boxing and martial arts, rugby is the only man's game I know of. Football, baseball, basketball..., hockey??? nope. wussy sports. Rugby??? GAWD DAMN! Nice compilation on those videos...clotheslines, sandwiches, jawbone knockouts, drops, flops, smashes -- geezus! Luv it! When I played football, my team played like it was rugby, we kicked $@!, bad. Running smashes, nice hard elbows to the bread basket, clotheslines, ...hit um' high...hit um' low...we'll keep the cheerleaders!

My uncle teaches guitar in New York (I'm out in CA now).

...I'm looking for a new teacher.

About the setup, I try to keep the bow on the high side, .3mm, with the strings low, 1.6 to 1.6. On others, I keep the bow low .15mm and the strings a tad high...1.7 to 2.1. High for clear tones, low for rock and metal.

The Fender page says .25mm on the neck relief and 1.6 to 1.6 on the string height for your guitar.

Dumb Question: Are you using chapstick and 3-in-1 oil on your guitars???

When american tourists ask about rugby and if we play on real grass, without helmets or padding in the pouring rain- my usual response is "Bloody othe we do, mate!!"
