Just bought a brand new Black VG Strat with Maple neck from Musician's Friend and guitar is perfect and plays beautifully except for one thing, a buzzing noise, that I discovered is coming from one of the trem claw screw holes was drilled a bit high (the bass side) and therefore the edge of the trem claw buts against the tremolo cavity cover. Any ideas?

Place a bit of felt or cloth over the tremclaw then put the cover back on.

1st off welcome to the forum. Take it back to Guitar Center. Fender warranties these guitars and its most likely an easy fix. Short of taking the tremcover off any other mods you make yourself while its this new will give the dealer pause on a warranty issue.

I usually leave my covers off. Mainly for convenience when changing strings or for setups.

Many thanks for your reply. Even though I bought it from Musician's Friend, Guitar Center will do a warranty repair? The neck on this guitar is beautiful, really nicely finished and plays extremely well. Would hate to return it just because of a screw hole not accurately drilled or placed> Would guess they would be able to repair?

Anyone else ever heard of a problem like with an AMerican made Strat? It seemed a bit shoddy to me that they wold drill one hole in the correct spot and the other slightly higher? Wonder how it passed inspection?

Dejanam,
Nobody's perfect... Ditto on what Mr. Feathers said...They should be able to fix the existing problem without replacing your guitar. Might just be a matter of tweaking the trem claw a bit and reinstalling it.

You will see many post of slight issues with both America and Mexican strats. Both are well built guitars, with great quality, but they will not be perfect all the time. Most of the time it is just very minor issues that can resolved easily. Hey, everyone has a Monday they have work. :D
