Hahaha - excellent!

Paisley Strat: you and I have some tastes in common. Here's mine:

BTW: you know that avatar of ours is actually Surf Green, do you? Came as a bit of a surprise to me - check out the little pic on this page:

It's a Gotoh bridge and to the best of my knowledge the Fender ashtray doesn't fit it. I don't think Gotoh make one for it - but if anyone knows better then let me know!

If you mean the one in the avatar then, yes, that's Surf Green. I am assuming Paisley Strat's '50s RI is Daphne Blue (?) and mine is a 1959 Ford Europe color somewhere between Fender's Daphne and Sonic Blue.

I think they all look nice. Love those '50s colors!

Ceri, you never did tell us how well that guitar plays. If you did,I missed your review. Also did you send the body seller a link to your wonderful post? Turned out real nice! 8)

Thank you Hop.

The Bare Knuckle pickups sound excellent and I'm very satisfied with the hardware. And as you can tell (above), I'm pleased with the paint!

The awkward truth is that I'm still wondering how I feel about the neck. It's a 7.25 inch radius with a medium V profile on the back and skinny frets. I'm just in two minds how I feel about all of that.

I like the variety along side my other guitars, but sometimes I wonder if I have a guilty sense of relief when I get back on a modern American C shape 9.5 neck? I have another V neck which I like, so perhaps this one is just slightly different somehow.

I'm in no rush to do anything about it - variety is the spice of life and all - but if I don't eventually settle down with it there is always the lurking possibility of a neck change. Shame to have an otherwise nice guitar compromised by one element.

I'll keep you posted.

Oh and, no: in the end that vast thread must have been some sort of catharsis because I found I couldn't be bothered to go looking for the original maker for a confrontation. All the nice folks round here kinda cured me of that name-calling mood!

Thanks Ceri! I'm kind of partial to a modern C neck myself. As far as not confronting the body seller, props to you for being the better man!

Miles of charming remarks by nice people just took all the fight out of me! :D

And yep: call me Mr Average but for all the sophistication of V necks if I could have only one it would be a modern C. There's a reason that's Fender's (and most other makers') default position...

Cheers - C
