This is like beating a dead dog is it not? Theres nothing wrong with this guitar. Some love it some don't! Fender builds good guitars for each price range it tagets. The reason they say 85% + 15% is they are just using MIM parts to keep the guitar within its price range. Don't mean Bad just lower costing.

Quote
In June of 2006 it was upgraded to include a few new features. The pickups are now Hot Single-Coil Strat Pickups with Alnico3 Magnets with the middle pickup reverse polarity for hum canceling. The pickups were American Series type of pickups that were made in Ensenada (Fender Plant in Mexico). The other is the body finish is now satin nitrocellulose lacquer in stead of acrylic lacquer.

Second Quote
The vintage pickups have staggered polepieces like those found on the Classic Series 60's strats. The Body and neck are made at the Corona California plant and are painted there as well. Fender says that about 85% of the guitar is American Made
End

So its not all American made if you like it who cares! Enjoy it you don't have to justify it. Now that I said it we all no its just going to keep rising up cream to the top :D

A simple pointer: Fender are not a metal working company. They make few metal parts: those on their guitars are mostly supplied by other companies. And many of those are sourced from other countries.

Depending how you want to count your percentages, the HWY 1's timber and work there on is at present largely or wholly produced in the American plant, to the best of my knowledge. Cvilleira has covered the current position regarding pickups.

But really: does it matter?

Cheers - C

How can a computer web site forum not be open 24hrs?

Unless they take it down for maintenance this forum is always up,

Hi Eracer_Team: actually, this Forum used to be open only about 12 hours a day, and not at all at weekends. Since the beginning of this year it's been 24/7, however.

The way I see it. The parts that can be changed by the owner are made elsewhere. The rest is made in US. So if you want to make it 100% MIA you can. I'm not sure about the tuners though.
I like mine the way it is. I don't care where the parts were made as long as they work the way I want them to.

the MIA standards wouldn't be 100% either. only the CS models would be, even then I'm not certain

I would agree, I would bet that all Am. Strats have pretty close to the same amount of foreign made parts.
