I've just read a post on here in which the Highway One Strat was stated as being of USA origin, I assumed (wrongly I now know) it was MIM.

This product section of this site does not mention which of the strats are MIA or MIM!

I believe some of the Artist Signature series are MIM (Blackmore Strat?) also.

Does anyone know where I can fing out which are amde where?

Presumably the American Deluxe and American Standard will be MIA, and I assume the straight forward 'Standard' strat is MIM, but what about the others.......

I have now strong feelings about differences in perceived 'value for money' within these different types, I'm just interested to know which are made where.

Sorry, I meant NO strong feelings, not 'now' strong feelings.

I don't want to start another contentious debate, I've upset quite enough people here already!!

With the exception of the Hwy 1, typically "includes deluxe gig bag" = MIM

And the Road Worn Strats are Mexican as well.

In recent years Special Edition has meant Made in Korea, but that wasn't always the case, and I don't know where the current two Special Edition Strats are built.

I'd bet Fender Customer Service could supply you with a concise list of MIM models.

Indeed. Remember when Rob Schwarz of Fender went through a brief period of enthusiasm and posted some helpful answers to a few people's serial number enquiries? On at least one occasion he copied what his computer was showing him into a post, such as this one:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... ht=#241903

Now that is essentially the same list the "specs" button provides us in the Products section of this website - but with a couple of interesting and revealing extras, down towards the bottom. One of which is the factory of origin for a given model.

We can make our own deductions about why some of that info isn't normally displayed to the public...

Cheers - C

That one took some finding! That "Search" button is a mixed blessing at best, isn't it?

The country of origin is encoded in the first couple digits of the model number. See:
