Hi guys, I'm looking to buy another strat in the next hour or so but need some help! This is going to sound really stupid but can anyone please clarify that these two are essentially the same model? Theres no price difference just a different shot and phrasing of the product, or so I'm hoping! The reason I'm asking is that one of these stores is out of stock til June and the other can ship in the morning...
Here goes - http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_mex50_strat_mn_blk.htm
and
- http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/EUR/Fen ... 000019-001.

Hopefully you guys can help out asap!
Thanks so much!

They do seem to be the same exact guitar. There is nothing I can see to tell the two apart.

But than again I am not an expert.

I have a 2003 Fender Classic Series 50s Stratocaster in Daphne Blue. It is a really nice guitar. To my knowledge, this model does not come in black. Check the product portion of this site for more info. Also, the parts should be aged white, not white like the Black guitar. 8 hole pickguard, Alnico pickups and soft V neck are also some vintage notes.
The black guitar from the one shop doesn't look like a vintage 50s Strat to me.

Thanks dude, I went ahead and ordered the first one anyway, couldn't wait too long :) I just looked on the product section and you're right the classic 50's player doesn't come in black but the classic series does so there must be a mix up somewhere. Anywho I'll inform everyone whenever it arrives!

Ah, what a shame you couldn't wait a little longer. You bought it from Thomann for €499, did you? Thomann are almost invariably significantly more expensive than other suppliers. It just took me seconds Googling to find several Classic 50s in the UK for €431, and that's without hunting hard.

Thomann run multiple double-page ads in UK guitar magazines proudly listing their prices for dozens of products. Which is very odd because anyone who so much as glances at any of the other shops' ads will see the same products much cheaper.

The days of low prices in Germany seem to be long gone, economy and currency fluctuations not withstanding.

Oh well: it's a nice guit, and that's the main thing. Enjoy!

Cheers - C

Thanks C. but I'm quite pleased coz I got it as part of their creative bundles and got a case strap lead picks strings and a bottle opener for €520 so it's not too bad! Considering guys that the same guitar is nearly €750 here in Ireland I'm pleased.
On another issue, I bought a Rory Gallagher Strat last year direct from California through ebay and payed €2150 for it and when I looked for it in Dublin I was told there was a waiting list and it would cost me around €5000 to get it. Also a guitar stand that cost me €7 in Germany costs €21 here and everyone knows that the guy running the store gets bulk orders from Musicstore, so in comparision getting stuff from Germany still makes sense for us.
Thanks all the same guys and I'll let you know how it goes.
