Is there anyone who does guitar tech stuff who can help me with tone on this guitar? I've done everything short of actually replacing the pickups with single coils. I like the sound, but I like the traditional strat sound too. And I don't remember an H/S/S in the bridge position sounding anything like this one.

You could add coil splitter switches for each pickup (or have someone do it for you) that would allow you to get more of a single coil Strat sound.

IMO> Split humbuckers do not sound like singles.

If the OP os looking for a true Strat sound. I believe he will need to change the Pups (and PG) to singles.

You are correct that a split humbucker doesn't sound exactly like a single coil, that's why I said it would allow the OP to get more of a single coil sound than is possible from the 'buckers he has installed.

I kind of wonder why he bought an HH guitar if he wanted the sound of an SSS (or an HSS).

One of the great mysteries of the world.

Sorry for the highjack but today at lunch...I actually had a guy trying to sell me the new Duncan P-Rails. He told me that if you put them in an SG, the split sound will sound exactly like a Strat. I even asked him to clarify "exactly" because similarities I can understand, but exactly? He said, "yes" heard it for himself A/Bed against a vintage strat (no less). Typical GC stuff.

Back to topic: That is what's great about strats though, today it an HSS, tomorrow I can make SSS, next week I can make HH...

I too am a little confused as to why you would by a HH looking for a strat sound. Strat's have that particular sound because they have 3 single pickups all with very distinct sounds. I say you need to put single coils if you want to acheive a strat sound. Humbuckers sound great in a strat, but they completely change the tone.
