some years ago i was also a die hard belever
that if my strat wasnt made in the USA it's worth
nothing until 2006. thats when i read that fender
made some upgrades to the MIM strats so i was
interrested in what they have done so i bought one.
when i was doing my modds i found that the body was
a 3 piece alder body a far cry from there begining of
a 5 to 7 piece body's. i also found the cuts to be smooth
and flawless. then i saw the neck was also very smooth
and now they have jumbo fretts and the edges were
also smooth no ruff edges at all. the bottom line if
you didnt know it was made in mexico you would have
asumed it was crafted in the USA. the craftmanship on
MIM's the past 3 to 4 years do with out any doubt rival
most MIA strats as far as craftmanship. my modd's were
duncan pu's a hard tail bridge and a pick gaurd thats it.
when my friends come over and all my guitars are out
my MIM strat gets most of the attention. the MIM's are
worthy of the pro guitarist and the craftmanship of
these strat's are simply fantastic! the days that your
strat has to be made in the USA are over. i would
choose a MIM strat just as fast as a MIA strat.
i have and glad i did.

haha, you are hilarious (again personal opinion.

After you hammer your opinions as gospel for month upon month, to go that direction. man I missed you when you weren't posting.

( I actually agree with a lot you have to say, but this is the first time you have ever made me laugh out loud!!)

I Understand just how everyone on here feels.A few weeks ago I posted a thread on Fender Japan not getting the respect and credit it deserves.I stated how I picked out a 62 reissue tele that I loved in SAM ASH back in 85 and as I said wrap her up I noticed it was a MIJ model and was not going to buy it until the manager who is an amazing player and friend told me he had 2 of them and it was the best tele in the store. If I did not know him personaly I would of walked.Well I have 10 electric guitars 3 STRATS-A Beck,Clapton, and an Ultra/4 Peavey Wolfgangs-2 stoptail-2 with a floyd/and 3 MIJ TELES-A 72 thinline reissue-a blonde see through-and the 62 reissue which is my favorite guitar of them all ans which everyone always wants to buy from me.I do not have a MIM yet but I understand where ALWAYSASTRAT is coming from. You get this thing in your head that if it is not a U.S model it is inferior without even playing it which is unfair but true. Now we all know Fender has had its ups and downs through the years, when cbs took over and were making crap guitars, those 3 bolt 70s strats that by the way are in demand now and are going for a pretty high price, those great 80s MIJ guitars. And let me just say I have really only been reading great things about those MIM guitars that I am going to have to grab one sooner or later. The bottom line is if its a keeper its a keeper no matter where it is made.I had read an interview with Slash and he said the custom shop gave him 5 guitars and he only kept 2 because the others did not feel right to him,and you know the guys who made those guitars (I forget the name of the company it is the guitar he used to do the theme from the Godfather on) are the best luthiers that place has to offer, and by the way his baby that he used on Appetite is not even a Gibson its a copy.So go figure

read a few of the threads on the highway1, and what alwaysstrat says, then read his second post on this thread, and you will know what the responses, and smiley faces are about. No one (on this thread anyway,) is questioning the quality of MIM (or MIJ strats for that matter.)
