Hey All,

Has there been an electric guitar manufactured by Fender in the last 25 years that has left the factory with tuners that aren't stamped or otherwise identifiable as genuine Fender Tuners?

Full disclosure: I have a wager on the answer received in this forum. 8)

Hmmm. Nobody? I thought for sure one of our in-house experts would have the answer to this one.

Here's the deal. My friend has had his eye on a Fender Strat hanging in a pawn shop for a while. He brought me over to have a look and offer an opinion.

It looks like a nice USA guitar, about 15 years old and in pretty good condition but has no markings or logo on either the tuners or the bridge. I believe that the reason for this is that they've been changed. My friend disagrees (though the two other Fender guitars he has at home both have clearly marked tuners and bridges).

So, I'd appreciate anybody's 2-cents here.

I have a Custome shop 60s Closit Classic that have no fender markings on them. The saddles have fender stamped on them. Im pretty sure most tuners fender uses are not identified by fender

I'm by no means an expert compared to others on this forum, but I do have a 15 year old Strat, so:

These are the stock tuners on it.[/img]

Oh, He means Klusons. Almost all fenders from '50 to '66 used Kluson tuners. nowadays they use replicas made by other companies. you'll find those on the classic, classic player, vintage reissue, and certain artist series guitars. I am not sure if they stamp them.

Hey, cv. I thought I might hear from you. Actually the tuners aren't vintage type or locking. I should have mentioned that they're the sealed Gotoh type. I'm of the impression that this type of tuner, in that it's a more modern kind, would definitely have an "F" or some other identifying mark on it. I actually would have expected to see the kind of tuners that Twelvebar posted in the pic above.

I just want my friend to be able to negotiate a good price based on an informed decision (plus, I bet him ten bucks that I was right!). The tuners seem fine as does the no-name bridge but he should get a discount for the non-original parts on the guitar, no?

Thanks for the input, all.

Unless I'm mistaken. Is there a chance that they're actually Fender stock tuners and bridge parts even though they don't specifically say so?

I have no idea if they were all branded. I only know that the ones on mine ( a '94,) were.

My bridge and it's saddles have no branding on them at all. I am the only owner, so i know they are original. The tuners have been replaced with schaller locking tuners with the 'F' logo, since the picture I posted was taken, but those shown were what it had stock.

Texas I trying to remember the ones I have delt with over the years and what marking were on them. Mid 90's I'm thinking they were marked.

I agree with you, cv. However, looks I'm gonna have to put a call in to customer relations to get the definitive answer. I'll post it here when I can.

The Wife tells me I remember to much sometimes. Its great what you can learn here on this forum and theres only one other I chat on but thats not music related but often goes that way with some of the Lectures and so forth. I only check in there once a week or so.
