i was interested in a jaguar and the only thing really stopping me (other than the 120 shipping and handling from japan) is the scale length. i have kinda small hands but my fingers (at least in proportion) are quite long and thin. i still can't decide between a strat, mustang and a jag. my favorite guitar overall (sound wise and everything. i don't know how it plays) is probably the jag. do you think the mustang is similar sound wise to the jag?

JAG PROS: look, it's different, THE SOUND!, controls CONS: price, ?needs to be upgraded?, not being able to play before buying

STRAT (highway one) PROS: usa made, easier to buy, ?scale length? cheaper CONS: it's cliche, looks

STANG PROS: look, sound, it's different, tremolo system CONS: is thought of as a wimpy or novice guitar, ?versatility?

which one do you guys like best.

btw my musical interests include: nirvana, foo fighters, led zeppelin, slash, red hot chili peppers, hendrix, green day etc...

also i know that their are already many "what guitar should i buy" threads but i know i need to play it to see if it's right but i can't play the jag before i buy it and i might not be able to play the mustang first either.

so i just want your guy's experiences and reccomendations regarding the subject. THANK YOU!!!!

I too have long thin fingers and really applaud your raising the issue of scale length, which with along with nut width are the two most under-discussed, under-rated guitar issues which affect performance hugely.

My 3/4 scale '65 Musicmaster gives me delightful string bendability with its slack string tension, but the tiny higher fret gaps are awfully tough to play clean.

BTW, another 3/4 scale Musicmaster devotee and performer: Mahavishnu John McLaughlin.
