I just picked up an American Deluxe 'Black n Chrome' Stratocaster exactly like Tom Morello's (Audioslave). I can't find any info on it. I know it was a limited run series (120 made)Does anybody know about these guitars? know about these guitars?

The morello 'soul power' strat is a copy, not a fender.

I just caught his new band last night(Streetsweeper Social Club), and dude was burning up the fretboard.

Only Fender he played was his tele...The rest were Kramers..

It is? I thought it was a Fender, here is a vid of Morello talking about his gear, the headstock on that strat says Fender, maybe it is just a Fender neck?

I know the "Arm the Homeless" guitar was a cobbled together affair though.

I am pretty sure it is a Fender and not a copy. BY the way where did you find one, I have been looking for one.

Don't know how accurate this is but this is from Wiki.

Fender Custom Stratocaster "Soul Power" - Originally a Factory Special Run (FSR) released at Guitar Center. Black with white binding, a color-matched headstock, mirror pickguard, and the words "Soul Power" scrawled across the top of the body in silver paint. It has an Ibanez Edge Floyd Rose Tremolo, locking nut, a toggle switch wired as a kill switch (He uses the 5-way pickup selector to switch through pickups), a Seymour Duncan Hotrails pickup in the bridge and Fender Noiseless pickups in the middle and neck positions. Morello mainly uses the neck pickup on this guitar unless he needs a hotter tone, then he switches to the Hotrails pickup. It's his main guitar in Audioslave for songs that are in Standard E tuning.

Thanks guys, it's definitely a Fender strat. I found it used at Guitar Center in Portland, OR. It has a binding and a flat top, which are very unique. Mine is all stock, and was made in 2000. I'm having a hard time appraising it as there is nothing to compare it to. I can't find a single advertisement or catalog with it in it. It is a beautiful sounding guitar, and I just can't pick up another guitar with it available to me. Tom Morello's is the only other one I've seen. Where did you get the info you had?

You can try just googling the search phrase Tom Morello's gear

There will be a bunch of sites set up by gearheads that love documenting musician's rigs

And there is that vid that I posted a link to earlier where you can hear the man himself talk about his setup some. Though he doesn't spend much time talking about the guitar.

I was under the impression that it was an MIJ Aerodyne strat with the pickguard and hardware swapped out for chrome and a floyd rose added. I may be wrong though.

Here's a couple of pics:
http://picasaweb.google.com/chuckmarla/ ... directlink

When you see it, you know what it is. It's not an Aerodyne, it's a straight up Stratocaster, made in the USA. According to Fender, there were only 120 of them made. It's a cool guitar!

I thought it was an aerodyne too. I know he put a edge III trem on it though.

Yeah, I saw them, too. It sounded as if he was using a guitar synth at times...
