Anyone tried these? What do you think? They have different gauges including 11-52. Did Jimi ever use a slightly heavier gauge?

I have not used that brand, but here is a link to an article about Jimi's string gauge preference. Not so sure of its authenticity, but here it is:

Jimi Hendrix moved his strings up one and used a Banjo G for the first E bass tossed

I have tried them and they are OK. I'm a Dean Markley string user to begin with so I tried them out.
I'm a Flatwound string fan so they were just not my cup of tea.

I actually just got these strings. 9's. The ones with the Electric Ladyland cover, because I heard the different covers represent the different time periods, and that's my favorite Experience record.

Anyway, I'm enjoying them very much. Nice step up from the factory strings. See my signature for my rig, I'm too lazy to type it all, haha. Nice, singing strings. Feel smooth. Be warned, though, as with all strings, my low E string snapped when I was trying to put it on my guitar. I didn't tighten it too much, or do anything weird to it, it just snapped unwound. Got a cut in my finger, haha. I just used an E from my DR's, as I had them as replacements.

I don't think you could find 9' as often back in the 60's Fender Rock n Roll 10-38's were conciderd small.

I tried both the pure nickel and nickel-plated in 11-52 sets on my JV Strat. I used the wound G string, and out of 4 sets, all 4 broke within a week, once the string winding unwound and stuck into my fingertip while I was sliding up the string. I replaced the wound G with the plain G, and they were better.

The strings sounded fine, with the nickel-plated sets being a little brighter than the pure nickels. They were easy enough to do 1 1/2 step bends on, but they didn't stay in tune very well. I do use the whammy bar a lot.

To me, DRs sound better, last longer, and are cheaper, so I went back to them.[/i]

Haha, 9's are so easy to find down here. I have Groove 09's on my Squier and I can say I've been satisfied with how they play.

Hendrix used 9's on Black Beauty, 10's on the White One, and 11's on the Flying V. All fender.

Well when you read what Tony Garland tells Phil Harris on the interview about Hendrix he says he used 10-38 Fender Rock N Rolls and says Jimi did the trick with the banjo string that others were doing. This was stated again doing the last discussion while they were looking at Jimi burned strat that Garland had and he talked of setting things up in England for Jimi and other things. He even tells the story of Him, Jimi and Chas going to Sound City at Garrard and Shaftesbury and Jimi playing a guitar there and people just staring at them.
