Has anybody used the Callaham tremolo upgrade kit? or any similar product? I know that the steel block will enhance sustain but what about the vintage saddles? is it worth it?

I replaced both the saddles and block on my American Deluxe Strat with Callaham, so I can't be sure if the saddles by themselves made a huge difference. I'm pretty sure they helped though. My guitar sounded great before, but somehow is even better now. I can't stop playing it anymore - not even in my dreams. :D I would say it is worth it!!!!!!

I replaced the block and arm only on my AmDlx. It sounds much better than the stock block.

If you do it, go with the 64 arm. That is a perfect length...IMO

+1 agree, the '64 arm is perfect for me as well.

I have a Callaham tremolo on a strat now, it improved it all around. I had an American Deluxe with the stock fender tremolo, having had both vintage saddles, and the block type, i prefer bent steel.

I put the block and '64 arm on my Highway One. I also upgraded all the Trem screws to the Stainless Steel. The block definitly made a difference to me and I also think the '64 arm is the right length.

Thanks all
What do you think the difference is in tone between fender bent steel saddles and Block Saddles. I heard that the bent steel will be thinner, higher in pitch with more attack but while the block saddles will be warmer with less attack, any opinions appreciated.
Cheers
H

It's the steel block that does it.
