I'll post some pics later when I get the camera out tdanb2003.

Still don't know about the tone as I have not been able to compare myself and would normally go along with you on appearance, Toronado, but this is a bound board and looks pretty good 8)

I'd be interested to know if the neck profile of the ('c' -shape) American Delux, is the same as on the American Standard? I'd kind of assumed they were the same, but I get the impression reading this thread that they're not!

The 'modern C' neck is generic across the line unless the guitar calls for something else. Finishes may vary as well. The Standard now has a satin finish on the back of the neck and a glossy on the front.

I have a Clapton, a Gilmour, and a Deluxe VG. The neck profile on the Clapton is superb but I prefer the one piece maple neck on the Gilmour. A combination of those two would be ideal.

I would go to a store and try both kinds and see what kind I like more.

Go try different models. That's the only way you'll find the one you want. I tried several and ended up with a "C" with a maple fretboard. I prefer rosewood with vintage burst but ended up with a white with maple fretboard cause it felt great in my hands.
