I'm contemplating new pups for my mim strat in the not too distant future. I thinking of going with either the Texas Specials or the Dimarzio area 58/58/61 combo. If anyone has feedback either way, I would appreciate your input. Also, are the Texas Specials quiet (i've heard they are NOT)? I love the sound of a strat but not the hum. So, please...let me hear from some folks. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I thought I should add that my musical taste leans towards, classic rock, country, southern rock and Texas blues. Nothing too heavy and no "death metal". I'm also running the start through a VOX AD15VT amp.

Hi Bigguy,

I've also swapped out my pups on my MIM, my favorite was my Vintage 60s Suhr pup that i put into my neck position, very clean sound with full tone. Yet it still gest that nice neck position growl with the tone rolled back, apart from that I can only recommend you check out copperhead pickups ? Someone mentioned them the other day and i had a look on their site, I'm still considering getting my middle pup replacement from them to finish the job.

Cheers,
Jack

A Seymour Duncan SSL-5 would go great in the bridge. That's what Gilmour has in his.

I have one in the neck and it sounds great!!

I have Texas Specials in my Strat and I love the sound. It's a Squier, but I've only played a few Strats (all of which cost over $1000) that sounded better.
I was blown away when I first plugged my guitar in and played it, and it's become my main guitar since the pickup switch. Are they quiet? No. But that's nothing a twist of the volume knob won't fix. IMO, the incredible sound is well worth the hum.
