:) I just bought a new American STandard STrat from "The Music Place" and haven't anyone in the area that services Fenders. Anyway, I've tried "very gentley" to install the tremelo and just can't get the the thing to stay in. I'm not really sure I want it in, in the long run; but, I would at least be able to show people how it is supposed to look. Yes, I'm another "oldie" newbie and this, for me was a major $ amount for me to spend on a guitar. Previously, the most I had spent was on a Gretch 5120. Anyway, the idea is to have something really classy to leave to the grand kids, without screwing it up. All help will be greatly appreciated. Also, any help with outside sources to help me teach myself to play. I practice alot, just don't seem to be gettting anyway. Jim

This is confusing. What is a tremolo? Are you talking about the tremolo bar? It just screws in. I guess some of the new Stratocasters have a pop-in tremolo bar that....wait for it..... pops in.

I have an Amercan Delux with a pop-in bar. It takes a bit of force (straight-down) to get it in. It takes just as much force to get it out - scared the heck out of me - I was certain I'd end up with the bridge block and all the strings in my hand, too.

Just lay the guitar down on the carpet or in the case, place on hand on the bridge block to stablize, then push straight down till it pops into place.

It should swing loosely, but not fall out.

Oclatex,
If we could have some pictures accompanied by a description of what exactly is happening it would help diagnose your problem greatly.
Is it the tremolo arm/bar dropping out? Or is it the entire unit falling forwards?
