Take a Ibanez Ts-808 Tubescreamer, and a Keeley Katana boost.

The tubescreamer gives you the overdrive, and you cranck it with the keeley booster, and then you will get a nice fat blues overdrive.

TS808 with a Compressor/Sustainer will give a great blues sound.

A pedal with a tube or two sounds good. Check out a box called a "womanizer" made by Damage Control.

another good "Fat blues" distortion (and other things too) is Marshall Guv´nor. Sound quite good.

None. I use a Blues Junior for my Highway One and get natural tube distortion even at low volumes. Preamp (volume) at 8, fat switch off or on depending on the song, reverb at 6, treble at 6, bass at 11, mid at 11, guitar volume at 9 1/2, tones at 3-4 for thick, up to 10 for that classic strat cut.

I like to keep it simple when playing the blues. Just my guitar & amp that's it.

Planning on getting one my self. Sounds great with a strat.

I love my RK-modded Blues Driver. To me, it's way better than the stock Blues Driver. It cleans up remarkably, and at lower gain settings really gives you a snappy OD tone. Very Blackface-ish.

I use a Danelectro Daddy O and love my tone. I combine that with my amps overdrive and get a fat growl when using the bridge pickup.

I play a Jimmy Vaughn Signature series strat, and I've found that the Eric Clapton Signature series pedal works great. Also, ensure that you're using a quality amp. Chosing the right amp can make a huge difference as well as the pedal. (Fender or Marshall)

Texas Spec's, Blues DeVille, Classic Wah, and a Boss Blues Driver... Seem to work for me. But I'm not really one of those TONE guys. I look at it this way, my opening set has G'nR, Clapton, Hendrix, VH, and Rage Against the Machine all living together. Since I'm way to lazy to bring 10 guitars with me I need versatility. So if that means I'm a bit less "picky", I'm cool with that.

Not to say the "Tone" chasing is bad... Hey man more power to you!! I'll be the one at the bar, drinking beers between sets.

Chris

I hear that buddy. Who cares if the tone of your guitar isn't exactly like the guitarist you're covering anyway? Nobody, that's who except for maybe some elitist out in the audience.
