I've been having some problems with setting up my guitar recently. A while back I tried setting the action a bit lower, since it was pretty high. I've recently changed the strings, and now my guitar is not co-operating.

I set the saddles to just about as high as they can go, and I was still getting a bit of fret buzz. So I set the bridge to make it was flush with the body, thinking it would raise the strings a bit more, and still there's that bit of fret buzz.

These are strings that I've used before, and they worked last time I used them, so I'm not sure what is going on.

Any ideas?

P.S. I can add pictures if they would help, just let me know what to take a picture of.

Thanks
Dennis

I use dean markley blue steel 10s. I usually get a buzz until strings break in .about an hour of playing. 8)

hmm, I've played them now for just over a week, the buzz is gone, but something just doesn't feel 'right'. I can't describe it, the best explanation I can give is that the strings feel too loose, if that makes sense.

I think I'm going to have to take it in to get it set up professionally.

Hi DDyke: if in doubt, having a professional eye cast over the thing is the best option, for sure.

By the way, are these strings you've put on a different gauge than the ones on there before? Or just the same set again.

Personally, I wouldn't want to reuse an old set of strings. Would be a bit like putting on used underwear. But in itself it wouldn't explain your buzz issue.

Cheers - C

Ok thanks, I will go get it looked at shortly.

And yes, these are just the same guage strings as before, not the same set lol, you're right, that would be a bit...weird.

Thanks
Dennis

For such "simple" instruments (compare on to a to pipe organ or piano), guitars are fussy little buggers.

Seeing the results of what a skilled tech can do is a joy. Watching one work is like watching a portrait artist,to this picker.

Have you been having weird weather changes? Weather changes will effect a guitar setup.
I recommend a complete setup twice a year. Spring and Fall.
