Hi to all in strat-land,
Terribly new to all this on the fender site but anywho...
Just wondering to all who own or have tried the gilmour strat, if the switch that activates the neck PU with any of the other two is a push button switch or a two-way? Going to try and install one to my frankin-strat, gilmour-a-like....

Thanks to all!

If I am not mistaken, it is a mini-toggle.

To the best of my knowledge it's just an on/off switch for the neck pickup this will enable you to use the neck in conjuction with the bridge pickup just like a tele. It also works so that you can have all three pickups at the same time when you are in the 2nd position. Correct me if I'm wrong.

From the spec sheet:

Quote:
1 Mini-Toggle (Adds Neck Pickup in Positions 1, 2 and 3.)

See http://www.fender.com/customshop/instruments/search.php?partno=0150068806

From the photo it appears to be just above and in the middle of the Volume and 1st Tone Knob.

Cool Guys! What I meant was is it like a switch ala a pickup selecter or rather a push-in-to activate kinda button? In the process of trying to find the right one! Will post some pics when I finish it up, at the mo I've only spent about 1000 dollars, so I'm quids in regarding value! That and its a hell of alotta fun too! :D

It looks to be one of these.

Exactly which one, I can't tell you, since I don't know :?

Page 97 of "The Black Strat" has probably the best closeup of the switch...

It looks like a super small cylinder shaped switch, as opposed to the flat mini toggle, marked "RS UK Made". It protrudes about 1/4 inch above the pickguard, and is smaller than the heads of the pick guard screws. The picture of the underside wiring looks like they made a little bracket to sink it down low on the pick guard.

Yeah I was just on gilmourish.com cod it looks like a simple switch recessed in with a hole just big enough for the switch to activate. Gotta try to get one now and try to wire it correctly:-) thanks to all btw!

Want the identical switch made by the original company?

Start here (near the bottom of the page):

I count 1101 toggle switches on offer. I'm going to let you do your own trawling through to find the right one...

Good luck - C

Great Scot: what a hefty routing jig to make that simple little hole. Oh well, I guess it'll put it in exactly the right place to match the bracket (which is rather an neat item, in itself...).

Let us know how you get on, won't you?

Good luck - C

The funny thing is that I only came across this site when I searched for david gilmour switch bracket! I've conducted numerous searches on the subject and this site never referenced, but then the first gazillion sites are DG strats for sale so I may have missed it through ignorance
