I was wondering if a Callaham Vintage S Style bridge will go on one of those bodies that Reliable Fender sells on Ebay. I've seen some nice Japanese bodies on there. Been thinking of building a guitar with one of his bodies and then put on a 60's Classic Players neck.

I think the pickguard will go on there along with the jackplate etc. I've got many Fender parts on hand.

I added a callaham vintage block to my 60's Ri MIJ bridge plate and it fit fine, but dont know for sure if the bridge itself will line up exact. There is a contact number for tech info on the callaham site. They should be able to answer that question for you.

It's been my experience that Callaham can be a little funny about which specific models their bridges will fit. If we're talking about a 6 point trem, then my advice to you would be to measure the mounting screw spacing and compare that with "American Vintage" vs. Mexican...since we're talking about a Japanese body, I'm willing to venture that the Mexican bridge might fit. Now please note: I am talking about the whole bridge assembly here and not the just the trem block! If you are -only- looking to replace the trem block, chances are that Callaham is not going to have one that fits...hence replacing the whole bridge.

Essentially the difference here is the whole standard vs. metric thing. Again since the body is an MIJ, it's quite possible that it may use the metric bridge in which case, the American spacing will not fit...the metric and standard are NOT interchangeable. So again I would measure the mounting screw spacing first before you order.

Just my $.02,
JIm

It would seem that Jim didnt read my post. If your looking for just the block, they do have one that will fit your bridge plate. If you would just check the site there is a section that addresses MIJ makes and tells you what will and wont work. And, of course as suggested in my original post, they have a most helpful tech department accessible via 800 number or email.

The body comes with nothing so I would be installing the whole bridge assembly on there. I probably will not opt for this route if there is a difference between Japanese Metric and American Standard Measure.

But all these people who buy Japanese Strat bodies from Reliable Fender must be putting something on there bodies.

Copied from the callaham site:

I have tried to assemble the finest vintage bridge for use on our guitars and for home builders who want the best. It is the small details that make the difference. We use stainless steel screws for the intonation, saddle height, and top plate mounting screws. The 6 heat treated pivot screws are essential. The top plate is cold rolled carbon steel that is nickel plated. And in 2006 we incorporated our enhanced vintage tremolo block and our "64" Virtual Pop-in stainless steel arm design (block details). We are the only vintage bridge to have these components. It is the traditional 2 7/32 vintage spacing

My MIJ uses the 2 7/32 spacing as well.

So then it's likely that a Callaham bridge will fit on a MIJ Strat body.
