If you heard this without knowing what it was played through, do you think you would have known that it wasn't an amp?

Sounds good. SS can sound good recorded. I have a POD XT that I use a lot for quick and easy sounds.

Live, I still much prefer a good all tube amp. They just have a much better tone for live applications to me. I can't "feel" a SS amp like a tube.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for home use. How big is it? None of the stuff I've found online shows the actual dimensions anywhere. I play a lot at home in the same room where my wife watches TV so it can be an issue. I thought if I had something like this I could hook it into my computer and play along with Youtube videos and listen through headphones. Do you think this will do what I want?

The RP150 is just smaller than 4 regular pedals (2x2). There's a headphone out so you don't need to go through the PC all the time. There's also a USB connection for detailed editing of the settings on your PC. It's definitely a great jam/recording tool to use with Youtube vids.

I just got an RP150 and I'm not getting a peep out of it. This is a little embarrassing, what with my 31 years experience as an electrical engineer. Is there anything really stupid that would prevent it from doing anything? I tried both with an amp and with headphones. Nada. The display is working fine so it is getting power OK but no sound output.

It turns out the problem I mentioned above was caused by the idiot GC salesperson putting the wrong power pack in the box. Now I've got it all working as it should. I'm having trouble getting it to play through my computer though. I downloaded all the drivers etc. from the Digitech website. I'm using the USB port to connect it to my PC. I can record from the RP150 to my recording software, but if I just want to play through the computer, I can't seem to find a way to do that. Anybody have any ideas? Fretscape - how did you set yours up?

Very nice. Do you need a special sound card for your PC? Anything else special you need for your PC to use the Digitech?

The USB connection doesn't actually send any audio to the PC. It's only for editing the presets as far as I could figure. It sounds like the problem is in the volume settings in your PC. Open windows mixer and click "options", then click the "playback" checkbox and "OK". from here you can adjust the volume of the line in or mic without changing the recording input to your PC, (unless you have vista).

I run into a Tascam US122L interface for recording (fairly cheap, $150). I used to go through a small mixer running to the line in. However you can simply go straight from the pedal into the PC line in with a "1/4 mono - 1/8 stereo" cable. No extra hardware needed.

I use almost the same exact set up for recording except i use a Digitech RP250 on the black face twin setting which is the what they call The twin Reverb..Thats why i don't understand people cutting these little multi effects down ..Some of my best tracks i have done are with that cheap RP 250..Although i must say i do use the traditional pedal board when playing a gig it is just to hard to get to your patches with the RP250 live..

Actually it does. I tried opening up the Windows mixer and options, etc. There doesn't appear to be an obvious option for the USB port as an input to the mixer.

If I run an Audio program such as Audacity, I can record audio from the RP150 via the USB port. But my goal is to be able to mix the RP150 audio with any other sound sources in the PC so that I can play along with stuff while listening through headphones.

I have also tried running the RP150 output into the PC's "line in". I get something but the volume level is extremely low. Still have to figure this one out as believe this should work based on the specs.

I recently contacted DigiTech technical support about this issue. They said you can only get audio through the USB port if you have some kind of recording software on your PC. (Like Audacity, for example.) It seems like an odd limitation though. If audio can be "seen" by your recording software, then you'd think it would be potentially available to the PC for other uses. I've been trying to set up Audacity to playback what it's recording (maybe in pause mode or something), but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Sounds like it's time for a post in the Audacity forum. (Thanks Miami Mike).

Sorry for the delay in responding (almost a year...lol). The pups are stock standard american.

By the way, here are a couple more vids I did with my new Gretsch 5120. Still relevant to this forum I figure as I think Fender distributes Gretsch right?
