I have used Jim Dunlop Jazz 3 picks for a long time for lead work etc. They are small pointed and very hard. In the past though I have reached for a larger lighter guage pick for struming etc. (particular Chilli Peppers funk)

Anyway at a gig recently all I have was my Jazz 3 and so had to rely on it for the traditional strumming music. I coun't believe how well it worked. I can't say as it was as easy to use as the lighter bigger picks but the versatility was so much better. Light attack, high attack, pulling out note. Excellent.

My strat and tele will now only see the Jazz 3.

I've always prefered to use heavier picks. I used to play with bass picks when I first started (great for all downpicking). I now use the Ernie Ball Heavy's. I've tried every pick you can think of, but I still love my Ernie Ball Heavy's.

I started about a year ago, and bought every thickness of pick I could find. I've settled on the orange Dunlop tortex (.5mm) for strumming stuff and the green Dunlop "Gator Grip" (1.5 mm) for single string or more intricate stuff - the thick ones seem to give me more control and projection.

This is gospel. I have boxes of picks, i used to switch between the Jazz 3's and tortex picks, but since I got my V-Picks the rest just sit in the little dish.
Surprisingly all the claims they make are true. i never would have believed it if i didn't try them.

That would depend on how many you order. If you are having problems give them a call or an email.

I have tried the v picks 2 different ones. i like the tone and control but they wore so that they were scratchy on the strings and i don't like that. Even though you can regroom them it was a pain to stop every half an hour to do so. i guess i play with too heave of a stroke. so everybody else would probably love them. 8)

I dunno I clicked on "add to cart" for one of them just for S&G's and to see how many come in a pack and then it just said $5.00, but didn't say how many you got for 5 dollars

If you're into experimenting, try using metallic alternatives. I use steel, brass, copper, stones such as agate and jade (very mellow attack). The metal picks will tear the crap out of nickel strings and pickguards, but they are replaceable! You might not want to wail away on a vintage guitar, but you will get some interesting tones and squeals!

The only problem that I can see with these picks is the price. To people who own them: Are they really worth it? I've read nothing but great stuff about them but I'm having a hard time paying $5 for 1 plectrum. Now if they do what they say in the ads I will give them a try. For a blues, blues rock, classic rock, Jerry Garcia, Jam Band style (many times heavy handed) what do you suggest trying? I'm not really happy with what I've been playing with the past few weeks so I'm down for a change.

Thank You,

Russ
