Post subject: Starcaster Strat wood

What kind of wood is the body of the beginner Starcaster Strat guitar by Fender made out of? I can't find anything about it. It seems to be very cheap and light weight. I own one, but I also own an American Standard Fender Telecaster, so I have a MUCH better guitar than that. lol But I was just curious, so thanks for any answer you can give me.

Well, my guess is plywood with tons of glue and a thick as hell poly finish. :)

You're probably right. And you got a point about the finish! There isn't any getting past that stuff.

i'd say that given its eastern origins poplar or basswood are likely.

Most manufacturers havent used ply since the yamaha pacifica hit the market in the early 90's.
