You have no idea. If carrying a Les Paul for two hours is a miserable ordeal, then slinging a lucite guitar is tantamount to outright torture. They do, on the other hand, look really cool. Oh choices...

I wonder if a guy could get a Lucite Doubleneck body?

Well now...

The only possible way the producer(s) of these transparent bods we're seeing could turn them out at this price is if they're coming out of an injection moulding machine. Expensive to set up: but very cheap unit cost if you're churning out masses of 'em.

And obviously the machinary offers the facility to mix the resin without getting bubbles.

My feeling on self-building is that it is only ever worth doing to achieve specifications and features the mainstream companies don't offer. So a transparent doubleneck? Clearly nobody's doing those: maybe that would be worth the effort...

How are your shoulder muscles?

I remember reading about this "See through Strat", designed by Bill Carson. Maybe someone posted this on the forums awhile ago,but here's the story on it.

Joe Perry and the Stones (keith richards and bill wyman) both used what I thought were lucite strats, but after a quick google it turns out they were made by Dan Armstrong - plexiglass bodies made by Ampeg. They have a reissue available of both the guitar and the bass. Is plexiglass the same thing as lucite? If not maybe it would be easier to work.

I like doublenecks

Maybe one made out of lead would be even heavier!

But imagine the sustain!

I'd forgotten about that! Keith and Bill used a matching pair of Ampeg Dan Armstrong's on the 1969 American Tour.

This, I believe, is a picture from the ill-fated Altamont concert. It's grainy, but Keith can clearly be seen playing the plexi ADA:

miko_lorenzo, you claimed on May 15 that you have an acrylic Stratocaster or "somethin [sic] like that." When are you going to show us the pictures to verify your claim? :?

I think that guitar looks great!! Wonder how it plays and sounds. You sort of have to think it would be awful because it's so darn cheap - but ya never know?
